Meet the Governors
Darius Campbell
I started as a Foundation Governor in 2019, and have been Chair since autumn 2023. I am married to Nancy and attend St John's Church. I have a 10 year old son and a 8 year old daughter, as well as two grown up children. We have lived in Old Coulsdon for 10 years now. I run the Secretariat of an intergovernmental organisation dealing with international fisheries and the marine environment in the North East Atlantic. I hope this gives me a broad experience in managing organisations and running committees and related procedures which is of use to the school governors. I have grown up and worked in diverse countries and cultures so I hope that also brings a useful perspective to the governors.
I am also the chair of the Curriculum and Standards Committee which is an interesting committee covering the broad range of subjects in the curriculum at the school and pupil performance. Through my role as Chair of the board and the curriculum committee, it's great for me to be able to learn how the children are taught and grow through their time at the school. I hope my input to the work of the school helps support Paul and all the staff at the school as they continue to challenge themselves to maintain and enhance the high standards in the School.
Trevor Meadowcroft
I and my family have lived in the Coulsdon area for over thirty years. Both my sons, now in their thirties, went to the school. I am a member of the congregation at St Johns and have served as a Churchwarden for six years. I was appointed as the Local Authority School Governor in September 2019. I am a Chartered Insurer and have just retired as an Insurance Underwriter in the City of London. I am keen to use my skills that I have learned in assimilating Information and managing several teams of people to the benefit of the school. In my spare time I run, garden and look to spend time with the family and especially the Grandchildren.
Chris Atkinson
By profession, I am a teacher and currently employed as Director of Learning at Reigate 6th Form College and am keen to bring my skills and experience to the role to help maintain the outstanding reputation already established at Coulsdon C of E. I have two children at the school, in Yr. 3 and Yr. 1.
Malcolm Bulbeck
I am a chartered accountant and have worked in finance for the past 20+ years.
My wife and I have lived in Coulsdon since 2010 and three of our four children have attended the school to date. Both my wife and my wife's mother also attended the school, and therefore I hope in my role as a member of the governing body, that I can help support the school to continue to offer opportunities to children, and to carry on a long family association.
Anne Gledhill
I was appointed as a Foundation Governor by Southwark Diocese in November 2016. I am the SEND and literacy Governor and sit on the Curriculum Committee.
I have lived in Old Coulsdon since 1987 and I am an active member at St John’s Church, helping with the children’s work. I am married with two children. I am now retired but I was a teacher in a local school for 25 years. I now help in school for a morning most weeks.

Lucy Rand
I moved to Coulsdon in 2018 with my husband and we are now joined by our daughter and fox red labrador.
I joined the Board of Governors in November 2023 and I am also part of the finance and premises committee. I am a chartered tax advisor by trade and having worked in practice for 14 years believe that my experiences will complement the skill sets of the other St.John's Governors.
Richard Shakespeare
I joined the Governing Body in June 2022 where I currently preside on the curriculum, admissions and personnel committees.
My passion and dedication to improve children’s education can be shown during my 39 years of teaching across 7 subjects. For 17 years I was a history and RE examiner for the OCR. Within my career, I have spent 26 of those years in senior management and 16 years serving as a headteacher.
My experience of volunteering with youth work and Sunday school over the last 35 years enables me to further support the Christian ethos of our school and support the vision of ‘ Together, Growing in Mind, Body and Spirit.’
Nikhil Thampi
